Join us for our inaugural series!

FREE Creative Writing Workshops.

Three Saturday mornings starting September 7th, 2024

10:00 AM to 12:30

Creative Writing

For millennia, writing has been at the core of how humans communicate. Creative writing can also be an effective method of self-care, which is particularly relevant for anyone with lived experience of bipolar. Keeping a diary, telling stories, or countless other applications – can help with de-stressing. Sharing perspectives, even troubling thoughts, can stir powerful emotional responses from the reader and help with understanding.

BipolarEdinburgh are delighted to provide our users with a series of three FREE creative writing workshops, led by local author, Mark Fleming. Mark himself has written extensively about his own bipolar, having published a memoir, and also blogs about mental health. He has previously been a guest speaker at a ‘first Thursday’ event.

“Writing has played an integral part in my recovery from psychotic episodes and continues to be key to staying healthy. I’ve provided creative writing workshops to a diverse range of communities, encouraging participants to not only have a shot of discovering their own 'creative writing mojo,' but also have a lot of fun doing so!”
